Live Baccarat: A Beginner’s Step-by-Step Guide

Check the lobby first

Open the live casino lobby on the platform. Look for a filter or menu labelled "baccarat" or "百家樂". The lobby will show tables with a dealer, a minimum bet amount, and a room name. Choose a table with a minimum bet that fits your ringgit balance — for example, a RM25 minimum is common for low-stakes play.

The room name often indicates the table style, such as "Speed Baccarat" or "VIP". Speed games shuffle fewer cards and deal faster. VIP tables usually have higher minimums and fewer seats. Check the number of vacant seats too. If all seats show "occupied", the table is full. Pick one with free seats so you can join immediately.

Understand the three bets

Live baccarat has three main betting areas: Player, Banker, and Tie. Player pays 1:1, Banker pays 1:1 minus a 5% commission (shown on screen), and Tie pays 8:1 or 9:1 depending on the table. Most beginners stick to Player or Banker because Tie wins much less often — roughly one in ten hands.

Your ringgit balance updates after each round. If you bet RM100 on Banker and win, the platform deducts RM5 commission before adding RM195 to your balance. Check the commission tracker on the screen — it shows how much commission you owe before the dealer resets it. Always verify the commission rate before confirming any bet.

Place your bet step by step

After joining a table, you see a betting timer — usually 15 or 20 seconds. The dealer announces "Place your bets" or "下注". Click the RM1, RM5, RM10, RM25, or RM100 chip icon to set your bet size. Then tap the Player, Banker, or Tie area on the virtual felt. The platform confirms your bet by highlighting it in green or yellow.

Betting works with your deposited ringgit balance from e-wallet or bank transfer. If you have RM200 in the account, you cannot bet RM250. The timer counts down — once it hits zero, no more bets are accepted. If you miss the timer, wait for the next round. The round takes about 30 seconds from shuffle to result.

Read the result and payout

Once the timer ends, the dealer deals two cards to Player and two to Banker. The side closest to nine wins. Face cards and tens count as zero; aces count as one; all others count as their pip value. If either side has 8 or 9, it is called a "natural" and no extra cards are drawn. The dealer announces the winner in English and Bahasa.

The result appears on your screen with the winning side highlighted. Your balance updates instantly. If you won, the payout appears in your ringgit total. If you lost, the bet amount is deducted. You can review the last ten results in the scoreboard at the top of the screen — a red circle for Banker, a blue circle for Player, and a green line for Tie.

Consider side bets carefully

Many tables offer side bets like Player Pair, Banker Pair, or Big/Small. Player Pair and Banker Pair pay 11:1 if the first two cards of that side match. Big/Small bets predict whether the total number of cards dealt will be four (Small) or five or six (Big). Side bets carry higher house edges than main bets.

Only bet on side bets if you understand the odds. For example, a Pair bet wins roughly once every 13 hands. Side bets also reduce your available ringgit for the next round. Beginners should focus on Player or Banker first. Once you are comfortable, you can add a single side bet — but never more than one per round.

Manage your bankroll simply

Set a loss limit before you join a table. For example, decide you will stop playing if your ringgit balance drops by RM200. Some players also set a win target, like stopping after a RM150 profit. The platform does not enforce these limits — you must enforce them yourself. Use the deposit limit tool in your account settings if you need help.

Keep sessions short — 30 to 60 minutes is typical for beginners. If you play longer, your decision-making slips. After each session, cash out your balance via e-wallet or bank transfer. The platform processes withdrawals quickly, usually within hours. Never chase losses by increasing your bet size — that strategy increases risk without improving odds.
